My Personal DJ is a crossfade music player that automatically blends between songs in your local music library. Unlike standard players that stop and start between tracks, every transition is a smooth automatic crossfade - no gaps, no dead air, no abrupt cuts.

What is a crossfade music player?
A crossfade music player smoothly blends the end of one song into the beginning of the next. Instead of stopping between tracks, the outgoing song fades out while the incoming song fades in - eliminating the gap and keeping the listening experience continuous. My Personal DJ goes further: it analyses your library's BPM, key, and energy to choose the right fade timing and depth for each specific transition.
How it works
How automatic crossfade works
Track analysis
The app scans each song for BPM, key, loudness, and vocal regions. This analysis is used to calculate the ideal crossfade point - where the outgoing track can fade out cleanly, and where the incoming track starts strongest.
Crossfade timing
When an outgoing track approaches its natural end, the app starts fading it out while simultaneously fading in the next track. Timing adapts to each pair - a track with a long outro gets a longer blend, a hard-ending track gets a tighter fade.
Continuous playback
The result is uninterrupted music with no gaps, no dead air, and no abrupt stops. The app keeps crossfading automatically from your local library for as long as you want.
No streaming required
Crossfade for your own music files
Streaming services like Spotify offer basic crossfade - but only for their own catalog. My Personal DJ brings automatic crossfading to your own local music files. Your MP3s, FLACs, WAVs, and other audio files stored on your Windows computer get smooth blending with no subscription and no streaming required.
How it compares
Crossfade music player vs standard player vs streaming
vs standard player
Standard music players (Windows Media Player, foobar2000, etc.) play tracks one after another with a brief silence in between. A crossfade music player eliminates that silence with a smooth blend between every track.
vs Spotify crossfade
Spotify's crossfade works only with Spotify's catalog and applies the same fixed duration to every transition. My Personal DJ crossfades your own local files and adapts the timing and style to each specific pair of tracks.
vs manual DJ mixing
Manual DJ mixing requires hardware, software, and skill. A crossfade music player does it automatically - no controller, no preparation, just continuous smooth playback from your library.
Supported formats
Crossfade playback for all major audio formats
My Personal DJ crossfades between any supported audio format stored on your Windows computer. No conversion or re-encoding required.
FAQ
Crossfade music player - common questions
Does Windows have a music player with automatic crossfade?+
The modern Media Player in Windows 10 and 11 has no crossfade option - tracks stop and start with a gap between them. The legacy Windows Media Player had a basic crossfading enhancement, but it applied the same fixed overlap to every song pair and did not adapt to the music. That is the gap My Personal DJ fills: it is a free Windows app built around automatic crossfading. It analyses each track's BPM, loudness, and vocal regions, then blends every pair of songs with a fade timed to how one song ends and the next begins - typically 8 to 30 seconds, no manual configuration. You point it at your music folder and every transition is handled for you, so your library plays like one continuous set instead of a series of separate files.
How long is the crossfade between songs?+
Typically between 8 and 30 seconds, and the length is chosen per transition rather than set globally. The app analyses the outgoing track's outro and the incoming track's intro - how much energy each carries, whether vocals are present, and how the two tempos relate - and picks a blend that fits: a long, beat-matched blend for two electronic tracks, a shorter protective fade when a vocal starts early in the next song. This is the main difference from the crossfade setting in streaming apps like Spotify, which applies one fixed duration (usually up to 12 seconds) to every song pair no matter how the songs end or begin. With adaptive timing you never hear a ballad chopped by a 12-second fade or a hard-ending track left hanging - each transition gets the length the music asks for.
Can I crossfade between different audio formats?+
Yes. My Personal DJ crossfades between any mix of supported formats in your library - MP3 to FLAC, WAV to M4A, and so on. Format mixing is handled automatically.
Does crossfade work offline with local files?+
Yes. My Personal DJ works entirely with local files and does not require an internet connection for playback. Crossfades happen locally on your Windows computer.
Is crossfade different from a normal transition between songs?+
Yes. A normal transition between songs is a stop and a start: the current file ends - often with a moment of silence - and the next one begins from nothing. A crossfade overlaps the two, fading the outgoing song down while the incoming song fades up, so the sound never drops to silence. It is also different from gapless playback, which only removes the pause but still switches instantly from one track to the next. A crossfade goes further by actually blending the songs, the way a DJ or radio station does. Done well - with the fade timed to the outro, the intro, and the vocals - the seam between two songs becomes something you enjoy hearing instead of something you tolerate.
Does the crossfade player work with large music libraries?+
Yes. My Personal DJ handles libraries of any size. Analysis runs in the background on the first playthrough and is stored locally, so subsequent sessions start immediately.
