My Personal DJ
A Better Shuffle: Automatic DJ Mixing for Your Local Music
Spotify shuffle plays your music in a random order with a gap between every track - and it only works with music you stream, not files you own. My Personal DJ is a true shuffle alternative: it sequences your local music library by energy flow, automatically crossfades between every song, and plays the music you actually own. No subscription. No algorithm. No gaps.

What makes it better than shuffle
Shuffle randomises the order of your playlist. That is all it does. My Personal DJ goes much further: it analyses every track in your local library for BPM, key, and loudness, then builds a playlist where the energy flows naturally from one song to the next. And instead of stopping between tracks, it crossfades - fading one song out while the next fades in, the way a DJ would. The result feels intentional, not random.
How it works
How automatic DJ mixing works
Library scan
Point the app at your local music folder. It analyses each track for BPM, key, loudness, and vocal regions - once per track, stored locally. The analysis runs in the background and only needs to happen once.
Energy-aware sequencing
Instead of random order, the app builds a playlist where tracks flow from one energy level to the next - avoiding sudden jumps, avoiding quick artist repeats, and adapting to any energy setting you choose.
Automatic crossfades
At the right moment the app fades one track out while bringing the next in. Timing adapts to the music - no two transitions are identical, and there are no gaps between songs.
Your music, not theirs
Play the music you own, not just what you stream
Spotify shuffle only works with Spotify's catalog. If you have a local music library - years of MP3s, FLACs, CDs you ripped, albums you downloaded - My Personal DJ is built for that. It reads your local files directly, no import or conversion needed, and plays them with the same intelligent sequencing and automatic crossfades. Your music, properly mixed.
How it compares
My Personal DJ vs shuffle and streaming
vs Spotify shuffle
Spotify shuffle randomises order and applies the same fixed crossfade duration to every transition. My Personal DJ analyses your library, builds an energy-aware sequence, and adapts crossfade timing to each specific pair of tracks - and it works with music you own, not just what Spotify has.
vs Apple Music / streaming shuffle
All streaming shuffle is the same: random order, fixed gaps or basic crossfade, limited to the streaming catalog. My Personal DJ works with your own local files and applies intelligent, adaptive crossfades with no subscription.
vs basic music player shuffle
Shuffle in Windows Media Player, foobar2000, or VLC is just randomised playback - each song ends with a gap before the next. My Personal DJ replaces that gap with a smooth automatic crossfade and replaces random order with energy-aware sequencing.

FAQ
Better than shuffle - common questions
What is wrong with Spotify shuffle?+
Spotify shuffle randomises the order of your playlist and applies a basic crossfade - but it only works with Spotify's streaming catalog, not your own local music files. It also applies the same crossfade duration to every transition regardless of the music.
Does My Personal DJ work without a Spotify subscription?+
Yes. My Personal DJ works entirely with your local music files. No Spotify account, no streaming subscription, no internet connection required for playback.
How is energy-aware sequencing different from shuffle?+
Shuffle plays tracks in a random order with no regard for how they fit together. Energy-aware sequencing analyses each track and builds a playlist where BPM and energy levels flow naturally - avoiding sudden jumps from a slow ballad to a fast dance track, for example.
Can I use it with MP3 and FLAC files I already own?+
Yes. My Personal DJ is built for local music libraries. It reads MP3, WAV, FLAC, APE, M4A, OGG, and other common formats directly from your Windows computer.
Does it crossfade between every song automatically?+
Yes. My Personal DJ automatically crossfades between every track in your library. The timing and blend depth adapt to each specific pair of songs - there are no gaps and no abrupt cuts.
Is there a free version?+
Yes. The free plan includes Auto Mode with unlimited tracks and sessions - intelligent sequencing and automatic crossfades for your whole local library, no subscription required.
